When one wanders about Berlin’s districts (sometimes from one bar to the next) running into his works is almost inevitable. And so it can happen that you pass by an ALIAS piece and moments later you find yourself dazzled by the visually power of expression that will eventually lead you to your own conclusion or interpretation…
CRY BOY as well as FUCK (also available) or SCREAM are raw and extremely direct motives. They jump up and hit you from whatever angle you look at them, asking the observer to “wake up”, a critique against the emotionless monotony of modern civilization. Placed is an urban environment these motives are standing like a strange rock amongst the (self) controlled rationality of every day city life.
Berlin based ALIAS belongs to the few omnipresent street art artists who have managed to create a unique style. He had his first encounters with street art at the turn of the millennium while living in Hamburg. Since 2003 he lives in Berlin where he has developed his unique street art approach and became a protagonist of a very vital urban art scene.
